It didn't bowl me over, but it wasn't bad, either. I liked some things about it that I hope they can build on. Overall, I thought it was a fun little adventure story with some likable characters.

Meh, the constant bickering between McFarlane and his ex was annoying the heck outta me...

And the sudden shifts between slapstick comedy and melodrama is head scratching, it doesn't work for me.

I'll give it one more shot...but it's not looking good.

Also, MacFarland is not addressing the Star Trek influence, claiming it's all original, a punk move in my opinion.

I smell one season and out...

I thought the pilot was ok and watchable - i'd watch more

My only gripe is every time I hear McFarlane talk I can't help but think of Brian Griffin

Glad it's not just a super laugh-fest like Spaceballs etc.

I'm one and out on this one. Not the worst thing I have ever seen, but I am not watching the series. Maybe if people start raving about it, I'll give episode 2 a try.

Was it just me or did The Orville's Isaac sound like Star Trek:TNG's Data?

I do not watch Fox on Sunday nights due to the fact that I do not like there cartoons, but I will give this a try. I know not to take it serious like Star Treks and who knows it may turn out to be a fun show.

I think next week the big alien guys mate is going to be Tyrese from Walking Dead

BTW, weird seeing Captain Sisko's wife as a regular

I watched with my boys. They both really got a kick out of it. That's good enough for me

I enjoyed it, I see where people are getting hung up but i've always wanted a trek type show where the cast didn't have sticks in their butts. If this show find it's voice, it'll be a big hit.

Watched it last night and had fun. I'll give it a chance and watch a few more episodes.

I liked it well enough to watch a few more episodes and then decide. There's just not much science fiction on TV these days, like TNG or the reboot BSG. This doesn't come close to those, but it has its merits. I love that the Orville is an actual model in some of the shots.

I think as long as they keep the crew as the wacky ones and everybody else plays it straight (including the plots) they might just pull it off .... Kinda like the Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein formula .

----- When we see plots like going to The Planet of Jeffersons then we know it's only a matter of time.

I liked the second episode more than the first. I'll keep watching for now.

I think the problem the show has is it's just Star Trek Lite. If they cut it to 30 minutes and amped up the wacky (like Galaxy Quest or Quark or even Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein like Mikey suggested), they'd really have something. Right now, it's too mild as space adventure and as comedy to be really effective as either.
