    RIP Roger Moore

...and so it begins again. The great ones are going...

The actor, best known for his suave portrayal of James Bond, has died aged 89, his family announces.

Hate to hear this. We just watched all the Bond series over the winter break. I enjoyed the Roger Moore run more this time than I remember enjoying back in the day. They're so serious and "grounded" these days, it was just fun to enjoy Bond as escapism adventure.

89 is a good life. He was the only other Bond I liked after Sean Connery.

Ah nuts. He was the first Bond I remember watching. He brought a sense of fun to the role. He's underrated for his portrayal of Bond in a now more cynical time.

My first Bond as well. I really enjoyed his Bond films when the ABC Sunday Night Movie would play them. He had such an affable charm about him. RIP.

I always liked that he wasn't afraid to parody himself, he did it often.

Roger Moore was definitely a Bond fixture and is likely the role he will most always be closely associated with. He represented, I think, a suaver, more socially sophisticated version of the super spy and one who was very much a playboy. I enjoyed his run on the Bond films, especially "Live and Let Die," one of the all time greats. I also remember watching him on the small screen, along with my Mom who had a huge crush on him, as Simon Templar in "The Saint." RIP, to you, Mr. Moore; peace and condolences to his family, friends and many fans.
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

Live and Let Die was my favorite Bond. But I think I'll always remember him best in this role:

                      RIP Sir Roger.

What a shame. My generation's Bond. I for one always appreciated the twinkle in his eye. The franchise could use a little of that whimsy that made it so endearing.
