This is taking me some time to decide.

    1) "Mirror, Mirror" (an early dip into an alternate universe!)
    2) "Balance of Terror" (hard to beat original Starship/submarine combat in space)
    3) "Spectre of the Gun" (pure fun, intelligent and wild)
    4) "The Squire of Gothos"
    5) "The Doomsday Machine" (perhaps had the best guest star, William Windom, playing Commodore Decker)

The, not-in-order, overflow of favorite Star Trek episodes:

    "Shore Leave"
    "Space Seed"
    "Amok Time"
    "The Trouble with Tribbles"
    "A Private Little War"
    "The Omega Glory"
    "The Ultimate Computer"
    "Bread and Circuses"
    "The Tholian Web"
    "The Savage Curtain"

And quite a few more that I didn't add to my 'Narrow Down List'.

Wow, why don't you ask me to pick my favorite of my kids, too?

      In no particular order:

      The Doomsday Machine
      Arena
      Mirror, Mirror
      Balance of Terror
      The Galileo Seven

Spectre of the Gun, The Ultimate Computer, A Piece of the Action, and Space Seed may rotate freely into that list as well.

          1. Doomsday Machine
          2. Obsession
          3. Devil in the Dark
          4. City on the Edge of Forever
          5. The Way to Eden (Yes the hippie episode. Over the years this ep. has grown on me more and more. (Charles Napier- Yay brother)

I'm surprised no one has Tribbles on their list.

it is really hard to pick just five. I think five least favorites would be an easier choice
                and the children shall lead
turnabout intruder - cannot stand this one
                plato's step children
                elaan of troyius
the cloud minders - although I can at least tolerate this one

Good crap list but i'd replace Cloud Minders and Turnabout intruder with ...

The Jem one where they torture everybody

The Sherrie Lewis written one where Scotty acts like a jackass because he in love.

I don't remember liking Space seed and Mirror, Mirror as a kid but sure appreciated them now.

I watched the Cloud Miners it wasn't that bad, far from the bottom 5 episodes.
