Is There A System For Hidden Ebay Identities?

    Hey,
As we all know, recently Ebay has started keeping all bidders identities hidden to anyone except the bidder and the seller. So I was wondering if there is a pattern to how those names are created.
Let me explain. My ebay ID is dvmx2. On all auctions that I bid on, my name comes up v***v. It seems that all bidders have two letters separated by a number of astiricks as their call sign. I checked a couple of auctions I am bidding on, and that seems to be my hidden Ebay name for all of them.
So do you think there is a pattern to how they choose the name or is it totally random. In my case, could it be that they take the second letter and repeat is at the beginning and end of the pass name?
OK, slow day here at work, but just wondered if anyone else had any ideas.

    hmmm, interesting thought...

Up until now, I thought the first and last letters of the hidden name was the REAL first and last letters of the hidden name.

I've actually been trying to figure the whole thing out myself...with no luck. I have noticed that the first character can also be a number.

I'm pretty sure the first and last symbol is in your real id but maybe through some random number generator.

I have a person who bids against me frequently on certain auctions and I already know what his hidden id is. It stays the same and if I cross check it against his real id on closed auctions, the feedback number is the same so I'm sure it's him.

The whole hidden identity this stinks. Its just a shield for the scammers to hide behind.

Think B.A. Where did you hide the Megos?

Interesting question. I am clueless. Most of the identities are few letters so I'm not certain if you could find out.

First of all I do not mean to sound like a d**K or anything. I can kind of understand the whole curiousity thing. However, Is it all that important to know who is outbidding one in an auction? After all the prize does go to the one that bids the most. If one is constantly getting outbid on something than it would be a sure clue to bid higher the next time. IF one does happen to suspect someone of fraudelent transactions than report the user to eBay and do not bid on any of their auctions. For me personally I kind of like the idea of others not knowing who is winning the auctions. I used to receive solicitations all of the time on eBay from others because it was so easy to see the winning bidder ID. To each their own of course. What may work for me may not work for others. I am realistic enough to realize this.

    Hey,
I really could care less on knowing who is bidding or who is who when it comes to these new bidder identities. I was just bored and wondered if anyone else had a clue as to how they chose those particular letter/number combinations.
