loved it. can't wait to see the rest of the season, looks like it will be the last too as Anderson said she is done with it after this season. of course they have all said that before, money talks, bull**** walks

I actually haven't watched the mini-series yet, I wanted a refresher & Seth had never seen it but I'm still somewhere in season 6.

I'd read online that the way the show is being made/marketed, for lack of a better word, is as a miniseries now more than as seasons. Perhaps the Powers That Be are attempting to copy some of the fine shows (esp at the BBC) where there are fewer episodes with a much stronger, satisfying story-arc.

Duchovny and Anderson only agreed to return to the show in a smaller format. They didn't want full seasons.

I really enjoyed the episode actually, big reveal in it,although not really if you followed the original and did question every thing...lol
Great characters glad to see them back again.
The show feels like the old show just feels a little faster paced with dialog to push the show forward due to a shorter season I’m guessing but I’m sure digging the return.
“When you say “It’s hard”, it actually means “I’m not strong enough to fight for it”. Stop saying its hard. Think positive!”

              Loved the original X-Files run.

              All the movies sucked.

              I hated last year’s revival.

              Hated this season’s first episode.

              ***SPOILERS***

First of all, please god, get rid of Mulder narration, it’s doesnt flow, it’s not organic, it’s forced...and Duchovney lacks that imposing voice, can’t stand his whiny nasally voice, it was not meant for narration.

Second, as much as I love Gillian Anderson, her character of Scully starts off with her knocked out, then again after an accident, ok, enough already, lol.

Mulder’s car chase had me sleeping in boredom, booooooring, snore, snore....zzzzzzzzz....

Scully impregnated by the Smoking Man? I just threw up a little in my mouth, lol.

But the thing that bothered me the most? The Smoking Man staging the Moon Landing? Are you friggin serious??? Talk about insulting and disrespecting all the brilliant hard working decdicated personnel at NASA...and all the brave pilots and astronauts who had the balls to go up into space, and some of them dying (test pilots, Apollo 1 crew, etc). That was the lowest of the low, screw Christ Carter.

              Think I’m done watching this...

sorry it's not your cup of tea Hec, but I loved it. I thought the CSM faking the moon landing actually fit perfectly with his character and history
regarding the movies, I loved the first one, the second was really weak but did at least forward the characters story

^^ Hec, across the original series you learn of all CSM's exploits… the guy is a stone cold operative. That shouldn't have been so much of a surprise, but rather a redux.

Did you *actually* just take offense on behalf of NASA in response to conspiracy-based TV show?… now that's a mind boggling X-File!!! Get that man a cocktail and lounge chair, STAT!

The wife and I just watched the first episode and were in total agreement that it was a hot mess. I was never a fan of the overarching alien mythos, and preferred the monster of the week episodes anyway, so hopefully we get a couple of those along with the spoof episode I know is coming.

I thought that was one of the most brilliant bits of X Files television ever made... whatever else happens, completely justified this whole season.
