Absolutely loved this one. Scary, funny, good story. Too many things to list which were great.
Who ever thought we'd see the original Cybermen again?
Some nice winks at Classic Who (Pertwee, this time).

It just dawned on me why I like this season so much. It's like Classic Who, but with superb production values. The whole mood, the type of stories, it's all there.
Can't say that "Good Missy" has grown on me (still annoying), and yes, I would have prefered the Cyberman reveal to be an absolute surprise.

Thankfully, this is a two-parter, so we can let the story move a bit slower.

Really enjoyed it, there were some nice surprises left. I can't help that feel that Sim's part was written for Ainley but seeing as they had a choice of two living Masters, they gave it to him.

A real knock out of an episode.

His tenure as The Doctor ends, technically, with next week's season finale "The Doctor Falls," but he is also slated to be in the annual Doctor Who Christmas special. I'm not sure which one he will actually regenerate in, but there's been some speculation that the season finale ends on a cliffhanger regeneration (or two, or maybe even three)...

At any rate, Peter Capaldi will be sorely missed...
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

One thing we've been forgetting is the Valeyard.

Regardless of how the Doctors are counted by the public, Capaldi is the official Twelfth Doctor.

The Valeyard was created, "Somewhere between your twelfth and thirteenth regeneration"

It seems lately Moffat has had a habit of trying to stay canon to the classic series so I think there's a very good chance we may see something of the creation of the Valeyard soon.

I don't think Moffat is terribly fond of the Colin Baker era. Notice the Rani has never been used since.

Also this season is designed as a jump in point for a new audience, I can't imagine such an obscure character return.

"The Doctor Falls" was a heck of a season finale.
Would've liked some 70s and 80s era Cybermen in there too, but still a great episode.
Less than 6 months to go before the christmas special.

I'm sad we are not going to get a Missy spin off series. That really could have been fun.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Wow. Last week was a great episode, and this one was just perfect. Good story, some superb scenes between The Doctor and the Masters. I must admit, I was moved during those scenes, the emotion Capaldi (and the writer) put into it. They made some really brave decisions in this story, not pulling the punches, this is what I call "drama".
I'll leave the details for now, as not to spoil the fun of those who haven't watched it yet.

And just when you think it can't get any better, you get that final scene.
This story, and the way it was handled, is in my top ten favorites.
So many twists and turns, all of them good.
And Capaldi's "rage against the regeneration" was typical for him, I loved it.
