GMA is supposed to have a big SW 40th anniversary announcement tomorrow
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...Tags: None -

It appears it's the same as the contest from a few years ago but with a greater prize bucket.
A bit of a letdown considering the lead-in. . . "40 Years in the Making!" There was a good bit of buzz over this "announcement" with the hope of a possible teaser trailer (ahead of SW Celebration?) or even possibly a digital/blueray release of the theatrical cuts of the original films. Alas, No. :(If I had only spent a tenth of the time studying Physics that I spent learning Star Wars and Baseball trivia, I would have won the Nobel Prize.Comment

It was a let down and I, honestly, expected it to be.
It's the 40th anniversary of Star Wars if they don't announce the release the original theatrical cuts at Celebration, it's probably never going to happen. It's a disgrace the movie that started it all is still not available in its original history making theatrical form. You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. A few quotes from his impassioned speech before Congress in 1988 against altering films and warning about the digital future.
"American works of art belong to the American public; they are part of our cultural history."
"People who alter or destroy works of art and our cultural heritage for profit or as an exercise of power are barbarians, and if the laws of the United States continue to condone this behavior, history will surely classify us as a barbaric society."
"Today, engineers with their computers can add color to black-and-white movies, change the soundtrack, speed up the pace, and add or subtract material to the philosophical tastes of the copyright holder. Tomorrow, more advanced technology will be able to replace actors with “fresher faces,” or alter dialogue and change the movement of the actor’s lips to match. It will soon be possible to create a new “original” negative with whatever changes or alterations the copyright holder of the moment desires."
"In the future it will become even easier for old negatives to become lost and be “replaced” by new altered negatives. This would be a great loss to our society. Our cultural history must not be allowed to be rewritten."
"Attention should be paid to this question of our soul, and not simply to accounting procedures. Attention should be paid to the interest of those who are yet unborn, who should be able to see this generation as it saw itself, and the past generation as it saw itself."Last edited by Werewolf; Apr 11, '17, 11:22 PM.You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing.
