    Fenway Fan Drops Foul Ball

    Did anyone see this?

I'm sure it's on YouTube but I don't have a video card on my computer here at work. I saw it on the news.

The fan basically caught a foul ball right in the 1st row of 2nd tier seats. He started celebrating his big catch and in the midst of celebrating dropped the ball and it fell to the lower level.

Don't think the ball was returned to him but the video was hilarious to watch.

Has anyone here caught a foul ball? We have never come close in a major league game but at a minor league game we were really close.

My son who was probably 8 at the time was dead set on catching a foul ball and he didn't understand that the ball had to be hit our way and then have the luck of catching it amongst a bunch of fans scrambling for it.

I noticed a batter kept clipping balls and they were flying over the stadium down left field towards the parking lot. Just for a lark, we left the game a little early and told my son to go look in the general area where the balls seemed to be hit and sure enough we found 4 foul balls just laying there for the taking.

I saw the video and it was hilarious. By the way he never got his ball back after dropping it.

I was watching the game and saw it. He made a great one handed catch than was showing off.
They went back to the game when the crowd made such a loud noise the ump stoped the game because he thought some thing happened in the game.

They keep showing it on the news as well - what a boob

YouTube - Fan Catches Foul Ball, Drops It 30 Seconds Later

I've never caught a major league ball, but I've caught several at minor league games (my town has a Single-A team). My wife was always paranoid of foul balls, and I'd always told her not to worry about it. Sure enuff, one game a guy lines a foul shot that was screaming right at her. Fortunately I try and stay alert with my glove and was able to pick it off. I got a nice round of applause and the obligatory "give him a contract!" comments

    That's a great video.

I've been looking for highlight from a Red Sox game last week. Sean Casey was on second and taking a big lead, and the pitcher turned around to try to throw him out and Casey tripped when he reacted to go back to the bag. Luckily, no one was there to cover second, so he just crawled back to the base on all fours, then got up on his knee and made the "safe" signal as he got to the bag.

Just the way he did it so matter-of-factly makes me laugh just thinking about it. Everyone at the ballpark was laughing... no wonder the guy has a rep as someone everyone likes.
