Too bad not one Asian actress was available for this part. They must all have been busy....

I know right? It's like when they couldn't find any white actors to play Heimdall, Perry White, the Human Torch, Electro, the Kingpin...even Kid Flash and Jimmy Olsen on TV. They must have all been busy too...Comment

Looks good. Agree on the MATRIX/BLADE RUNNER influence along with a little JOHN WICK for good measure. If DISNEY/MARVEL doesn't offer her a standalone Black Widow movie after this, then they're just total boneheads...sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.Comment

Ghost in the Shell opened very poorly ($19 million)...third place behind The Boss Baby and Beauty and the Beast (third week of release), and a lot less than Scarlett's previous solo sci-fi-action flick, Lucy ($43.8 million opening)...
But it's doing much better overseas, $40 million...twice as much...sigpicComment

I totally understand why they cast ScarJo. Enough of us have crushes on her ( I'm not ashamed to say that she is sexy cuz she TOTALLY is!) that they make money on that audience, add in the anime audience, and the "random action movie" audience. I think that is what they hoped for, anyways. Obviously the numbers do not reflect that.
As a former anime junkie ( I quit a LONG time ago, only American comics for me!), I am a bit curious on how they will approach the plot and the ending. It's a fascinating yet weird storyline that I don't think American audiences would mesh with.
Or they changed the plot completely. Every now and then that works. Worked amazing for iZombie!
