I met Peter Bagge (and bought original art)

Yeah so, I'm not a gigantic comic guy but this year's comic con had Peter Bagge, my all time favourite artist and writer so i hopped the train and thanks to Sam Noir, i didn't even have to pay to get in.

I've been a Bagge fan since grade ten and I spent my twenties trying to rip him off (very, very not good) and honestly, i think I creeped him out but I did manage to buy a page of original art from Hate (my favourite comic of all time). I framed it this morning and now get to see it every day in my living room.

My wife, is actually the bigger comics fan and we finally have bookends as she owns this original cover to Strangers in Paradise.

Great stuff. Peter was one of the guests of honor at last year's Gem City Comic Con in Dayton (the biggest local comic con). Coincidentally, I jsut got into Strangers in Paradise a few months back wen I picked up a couple of the "mini-omnibus" editions and really liked it too. I had gotten into Terry Moore's stuff through Rachel Rising and his new book Motor Girl and that led me to Strangers. So I love both pieces of the "bookends" you and your wife have.

for me, my big geek-moment of the weekend was getting some books signed by Joe Jusko.

I've also been wanting to pick up one of Jusko's corner box Marvel prints ever since Blue Meanie (IIRC?) posted about them some months back. Grabbed the Spider-Man one that looks like this:

Awesome! Framed Comic Art is stunning. I have a few pieces that I really treasure and several colorful prints around the house that are way more interesting that awkward family photos lol

that's awesome! I used to work with Buddy, or at least the fellow that depicted him on the cover of #10.

Oh wow, I remember that issue! That's hilarious.

I honestly thought about entering but my hair was short for work those days.

That is so cool... He's got a great style. Dig that underground subversive comics style. Nothing quite like owning an original piece of art.

I've always admired other people's original comic art but I could never find a piece that meant something to me personally. The best part is, I paid half of what my wife paid for hers.

Colour me incredibly jealous (both for getting to meet him and buying a page of his original art). What a great series Hate was, along with the earlier Buddy stories in Neat Stuff.
