FTC's International Shipping is more reasonable on Ebay

I just noticed this today, when i tried to order the Wendy and Marvin set on their site, I was quoted $45. Needless to say, I didn't follow through, in fact it kind of depressed me that I wouldn't be able to order anything new.

However, when i did it on their ebay page, it quoted me $23. Which is closer to what it should cost.

It looks like individual figures to Canada are quoted at $17 each, so that's not a bargain but the Johnny Quest wave is $28 to ship and well, I wouldn't think twice about that.

Don't forget to add the $26-and-change 'import charges', sadly :/

Ech, the Global shipping program strikes again and is getting more deceptive.

Yeah, the thing about Global Shipping is you are *definitely* paying the customs charges (and in advance), whereas if you order something shipped normally, you may get dinged by duties and you may not.

It's definitely frustrating as a Canadian collector, and really limits what or when I buy. My LCS has been really good about getting in FTC product, but the in-store figures have incrementally gone up in two years from $24.99 to $53.99, before tax. Which is ridiculous. Even if I wait for their occasional sales and take 20% off, they're still too expensive. So now, the last batch of figures they got (Shazam Series 1 and the Surf's Up Batman wave-heh) are going to sit on the pegs and likely prevent him from ordering any more in the future. Unfortunately, that price tag is probably close to what it currently costs to have them come from FTC directly once all exchange, shipping and duties are factored in.

You're preaching to the frigging choir. I'd like to punch Ebay in the crotch for the Global shipping scam.

It is painful. I am having to wait for deep discounts on the items I want. If they stick around that long and I know that isnt how a line continues to flourish. Time for a distributor in Canada???

on the other hand the US shipping is less reasonable. Free at CTVT's site, 15.99 on ebay. I went thru the paypal checkout at FTC and wasn't getting state tax anymore either.

Well, since that door was opened, it's not fun what the company is doing on the domestic shipping discrepancies between their main FTC website and the CTVT website. Hopefully they fix those differences soon. Anyone ordering figures should order strictly from the FTC main site where you can get free shipping on orders $100 or more. The CTVT website maintains the old shipping rates. It's only fair that people who routinely give FTC their business be aware there is a big difference this year. I asked them directly about this and they are aware and no changes are being made at this time. So there it is.
