Mego 12" Fly Away Captain America Shield

Hi. Recently won an auction for a loose 12" Fly Away Cap. Seller confirmed that everything was authentic Mego, but I've seen some pics of his shield where the inside is red and the star isn't as large. Where there variations of the shield for this figure? Here are two pics of the one that I won:

Does the shield look correct?

That shield is from the Applause 11" vinyl figure from 1997

I have the 12 inch Cap and the back side of his shield is molded red with two straight pegs that you fit his arm between to hold in place. That's a good alternate, but as Dwayne stated, it's not Mego.

What a beautiful specimen. Thanks for the pic; I was never able to find a clear shot of what the inside of the shield looked like, though Tom's description did help.

So, I need some advice. I contacted the Seller and told him about the shield. He was very apologetic and at first said to just send him back for a refund. He later made me an offer: $60 refund to keep him as is. I do own quite a bit of Mego toys, but not any from the 12" line. How scarce is that shield? Would I be able to score one either at The Market Place or ebay for $60, or a little more?

its really up to you if you want to risk keeping and finding original shield..
I don't think it will be easy to be honest unless anyone here can help

if you take the refund and maybe hold onto him until a complete original one comes through is an option ....

Depends on what your final cost will be with the $60 refund. Looks like a nice figure, even with a different shield.
