First let me admit that I've never seen a Paul Naschy film. Sure I know who he is, but nothing I have ever seen out of his pictures ever compelled me to watch one. Vinegar Syndrome just released a cleaned up Blue Ray/ DVD for this so I gave it a shot.
What a surprise! I really enjoyed it. I'm a sucker for gothic horror (thanks Hammer) and this had it in spades. Tons of atmosphere, an attractive cast with decent acting skills, and enough plot to keep me engaged.
It's not perfect, I think the first half is stronger than the second, but it's still worth your time.
For fans, how does this rate against his other pictures?
