    Westworld on HBO

Read the book and saw the movie a very long time ago - so long that I only have a vague feeling of having liked them. Still, I was looking forward to this..

Can't say I was totally taken with the premiere, but there was enough to keep me coming back. Thought Hopkins and Evan Rachel Wood were excellent, no surprise..

As the storyline develops, I just hope it draws me in more..

I have some of those on DVD, it's a pretty lame premise. It's nice to see young Connie Sellecca but the show is really dumb. One episode they tell the guy that the best way to tell if it's a robot imposter is to go for it's eyes. Great plan, just start jabbin'.

Sounds like basically a Fembot inspired (rather than Westworld inspired) TV series.

It's more of a continuation of Future World's plot.

I rewatched the initial films. As far as the initial movies, is it me or does the production of Futureworld get seriously sparse in places. It started out with a decent budget, then it they took too many closeups and made it difficult to suspend disbelief. But It was a Samuel Z Arkoff production, so I guess that is to be expected. Three years before ALIEN and the space suits were made from quilted bedding? I nearly fell over when I saw Blythe Danner in a mind reading helmet future world and doc.jpg that looked way too close to Back to the future.
But it does have Brick Mantooth's pal MUSKATRON in a silent role...

The new series with it's clever dialogue and sweeping visuals really sucked me in. Can't wait for people to start cosplaying as Delores, etc.
                  Cheers,
                  Guyx1

I'm hooked. Will probably be watching the second episode tonight. The Westworld idea was ripe for a good remake...one of the few modern remakes I could really get behind, as there is plenty of room for improvement.

I have had a soft spot for Westworld/Futureworld/Beyond Westworld ever since seeing a TV broadcast of Westworld as a kid. Yul Brynner was captivating in his robot cowboy role. I spent quite a bit of time trying to get my hands on all the episodes of the Beyond Westworld TV series, back when it was impossible to find. I was quite pleased when I was finally able locate all 5 episodes (including the two unbroadcast ones!) to watch, as bad as the show really is. Then it finally came out on DVD unexpectedly in 2014 and I picked it up.

                      Watched the pilot last night

HBO has the pilot free on-demand

I like it a lot ... only downside is too much naked manbots

If I had HBO I would definitely keep watching.

Damn you HBO with your first ones for free policy !!!

Fantastic show so far...has the feel of a big budget movie, not a TV show.

I feel so bad for the poor "hosts"...getting killed by the "guests" left and right...then getting repaired...and having to do it all over again.

I can't wait when they finally remember everything, deprogrammed themselves...and start blasting those rich humans to kingdome come once and for real, lol...

If I were a guest in Westworld...I would not spend one single moment "out in the field" playing cowboy...I'd be in that saloon where Tandie Newton hosts...never leaving its premises...

Was the older robot that the psycho human killed on the mountain Huggy Bear ?

                            He sure looked like him.
