The Royal Tenenbaums * Alternate Ending Song (Spoilers)

Feel silly writing spoiler on a 15 year old movie, but you never know. I feel it's a masterpiece, and I'd hate to ruin it for someone that hasn't seen it yet.

I've seen this movie many times and the funeral scene always ended with Van Morrison's "Everyone". The movie has an outstanding soundtrack and Morrison's contribution fits in perfectly with the scene, but I recently found out that one of the earlier releases of the movie had the Beach Boys' "Sloop John B" as the funeral scene song. I had never heard the song before, but fell in love with it when I first saw this clip. It's now my favorite Beach Boys song and though Morrison's song was great for the scene, I think this is better.

This is one of my favourite movies too, and I never knew about this alternate ending. It's hard to gauge with the scene on its own, but this version feels a bit lighter to me, and the Morrison song is a bit more reflective maybe? But this suits the character very well. Interesting.
