    Marvel Retro sets update PLEASE

What's the status of the Marvel Retro Sets? Deadpool has been best seller, did Daredevil and Think Geek Captain America sets sell Well? Will there be a new set at NYCC, Punisher, Spider-Man 2099? Who's next for 2017? When do we get females and Villians? DST has Marvel Select 7" figures for $25 each and the $80 Marvel Retro sets are a tougher sell, will there be a format Change? Please let us know. DSTZach?

All I can say is NYCC is around the corner so maybe we'll hear news there.

I believe it's been made abundantly clear that, like it or not, there can be no "format change". Continually asking the same question, when the license restrictions dictate the current format, seems pointless.

I don't believe Punisher or Spider-Man 2099 will make it out in 2016 and the set format is slowing releases.

The "set format" will not change, unless it is for the worse. They have restrictions, and add a lot of stuff to make up for the price. They released three sets this year so far, so one more might be released before the end of the year. The "set format" isn't making the releases slower. How do you figure that?

I don't care a fig about the set format or frequency, honestly. Four releases annually is fine IMO. I'm more interested in character selection and design/quality.
WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.

The set format does not work for all Marvel characters who do not all have Secret ID'S and different costumes. And the $80 cost.

Still I bet DST can pull something better out of its "purple bag" than FTC did today.

I wish we could get a figure and motorcycle for 80-100 rather than the 3 figure format. Captain America, Wolverine, and Ghost Rider would work but than we wouldn't have got Daredevil , so maybe not.

I doubt DTS plans to produce all Marvel characters, let alone all the ones Mego tried. And I have yet to pay anything close to $80 for a set in which I was interested. I think the prescribed format has worked pretty well (even for Deadpool who hasn't a distinct SI): I'm not much interested in a Deadpool set or another Spidey set, but these--and more traditional considerations like Green Goblin, Iron Man, or Falcon--have been/would be well-served by the contract limitation.

No new set at at NYCC. Guess no more sets for 2016, I thought we would get Punisher and Spider-Man 2099 4 sets a year not including think geek Cap Set. So, now we wait until 2017 Toy Fair in February 4 months from Now? I worry for future of this line like when EMCE DC Retro Action was cancelled after 5 waves.

If FTC can give us news every Friday then DST could at least give a monthly update.

Yes, character selection! Don't care about a future Spider-Man. Never heard of him until recently in these threads. I might say Punisher is a pass, but I said that about Deadpool and I ended up buying it because it was cool, and did not have an SI figure. Not interested in SI's either. Punisher could be awesome, but how are they going to do 3 versions of him? I only know one.

Daredevil is best set so far, I can see red DD as Mego would have done him, like secret ID, and yellow DD is a detailed update.

Thor is next. Never had Mego Thor and he's perfect repro, doctor secret ID is nice, and Modern Thor is beautiful but his head not going all the way into body keeps Thor set from #1.

Sets have improved. Modern Deadpool is awesome, but he's a 90s character and a retro version is a waste since his costume is so detailed. I also do not like Wade Wilson head.

Where's Iron Man and Hulk, there has to be a way to execute sets for them. And females and villians.

We need news before 2017 Toy Fair.

Today on Ask DST: Marvel at artasylum.com DSTChuck replied to my question about retro Marvel sets future.

DSTChuck "There are more retro cloth sets coming next year, I am confident confirming that at this point."
