I think he'd be perfect. Raimi has a knack for combing serious elements with tongue-in-cheek humor, which is ideally suited for Shazam. Especially if they are going to introduce elements such as the extended Marvel family, Mr. Mind, etc.

Sorry Hector. Your argument holds no weight.

By that logic, oh hell yes. You know why? Spider-Man 2. Nuff said...

Spider-Man 3 wasn't Raimi's fault AT ALL. Blame studio interference and forcing him to include Venom and a script he never wanted to do in the first place. The first two films proved he knew what he was doing. Sony should've left him alone.

^Specifically blame Avi Arad. He got greedy and wanted to make even more money, so he stuffed the movie with toy selling characters.

If Raimi is allowed to do his own thing with Shazam, and combine humor and action, he's perfect for it.

Raimi has offered one of the best Spider-man films in the Marvel universe with Spider-man 2. He also introduced the world to Spider-man with a hugely successful origin film. It's difficult to hold SM3 against him since the studio were clearly pulling him in too many directions. I can forgive the misgivings of that film far before I can kneel at the throne BVS for derailing the most basic of heroes. I think Raimi will do Shazam justice.

That's exactly what I thought. Spider-man 2 doesn't excuse Spider-man 3. He should have quit instead of making a giant piece of garbage like the third Spidey movie.

While it sounds more like a producer's hail mary to keep Rock involved and get the greenlight from WB, I could see Raimi considering it as Rock guarantees a lot of things happen and directors like working with him.

It also means I also have to believe George Miller is developing a New Gods project...which is really hard to accept. They feel very fanboy fantasy matchup.

Not so easily done Lonnie. He was under contract and had to do it. And Spider-Man 2 definitely excuses Spider-Man 3. It's easily one of the best superhero films ever made.

I'm with the majority here, Shazam is in good hands. S3 was absolutely studio meddling at it's finest.

They were solid superhero movies. I don't even hate Spidey 3 like most people. I'd give Raimi any film after the wildly entertaining Drag Me to Hell.

I'll brave the theater to see it if this happens. I was hoping he might do something for the DC Universe. The Demon Etrigan would have been my top pick but this sounds good to me!

Who makes 13 or so movies and doesn't make one stinker? I think he made like, 2 movies that I didn't like, and everything else he's done I basically love.

Oh, I guess the baseball one — which wasn't bad, but not my thing. And my theory was that he just made the super mainstream baseball one so he would be more seriously considered for Spider-Man.

Spider-Man 2 is easily my favorite Marvel movie.

It absolutely reeked of that, yeah. Though, he's admitted that he made mistakes too. He admitted to trying too hard to up the steaks from the other two and wasn't the right person to do Venom, because he didn't know or care about the character. Waddyagonnado?
