    Kenner Give-A-Show

One of my favourite memories of a kid was my neighbour's older sister gleefully showing "The Amazing Chan and the Chan Clan" (a cartoon I'd never heard of) to a bunch of us in their basement one rainy day. I always think of Sherry when I see these things. For more Fashion Mockery and 70's toy love visit us at Plaid Stallions.com

I love these things! As a kid, I only had the Easy Show Projector (which was NOT easy!). I would have been much more happy w/ these. As an adult, I have a lot of these! I got the Bionic Woman box set, and then just added some other sets. Most of which is like having Saturday morning in a box. And during the winter months, when it gets dark earlier, I've taken these to school, and my pre-schoolers love it! (so did the after school group I used to work in!)

Oh gosh,I completely loved these when I was a kid! My sibling had the whole animated Disney set. I recall they were like continuing short stories/parodies of the original stories. Very cool!!!!

I never had this one but I did have the Viewmaster wall projector which was really neat.

Had the Star Wars one. Ah those pre-VHS days of recreating a cinematic experience at home. I wouldn't trade my modern home theater for anything; nor would I trade my childhood memories of this simple pleasure.

I didn't have this one, but I had the Viewmaster wall projector. I thought it was lots of fun.

I know they made a Marvel one but did they make any DC superhero ones too?

I had a flashlight-type thingee similar to this . I think I have some of those film strips made for this around here somewhere, picked up at a yard sale for next to nothing. Can't recall what show they are from right now, though.

That was excellent. I haven't seen that since I was about 8 years old. It's a bit like Star Wars told through a young kid's eyes with simple drawings, sound effects, and some dialogue thrown in.

It's funny: unlike most everything else Star Wars-related, that Give-A-Show projector didn't last long in our household. I don't really know why. I'm guessing it stopped working for some reason, and with the projector not working my mom probably just tossed the whole kit and kaboodle.

My daughter and I got the Star Wars one out recently. I had to buy D batteries just to try it out. Still works like a champ. I don't think my daughter (she's almost 7) fully grasps how primitive life was in the 1970's. And now I have a brand new set of D batteries collecting dust.

As a kid in the 70s, I was lucky to have a Super 8mm sound movie projector with short digest versions of Star Wars and other movies.
