Those awesome books were my escape in my childhood! I love my Dark Horse book that reprints those stories. Great art. Sure the Filmation toon had some neat things about it, but it kind of ruined the charm of the world building for me then and now. I wondered why Man At Arms had a mustache and why Orko walked right out of Fat Albert & The Gang voice-wise.

Yeah, Filmation didn't use that concept in the MOTU cartoon, unfortunately.

Interestingly however, they did have a very similar concept in the earlier Filmation Blackstar cartoon, with the Starsword and the Powersword.
