I also had a Raleigh Grifter, I sold it for a BMX.
"I've just bought a house. It's got a Buck Rogers Toilet. One yank, all gone!"

  2. i had a red grifter too, weighed a ton, used to smash up kerbs as i couldnt lift the front end up

    was the tonka of bikes

i had attempted to peel off the built in rubber handle bar pad aswell, but that was welded on aswell

i almost bought a black & gold limited ed 1 a few years ago, hit £150 though and was out of my reach at the time

That was the reason I got rid of it, it was so heavy.

Plus I wanted to cycle/fly like in E.T.

I often wondered what bike Elliot had.
As a kid I would have love it, not sure about the Granny Basket
    though.
If you do get one you'd have to ride around with a
Small child in a bed sheet with holes cut for eyes
    in the basket.

Eating starburst jelly beans, don't think you can get the real ones over here.

    Do you remember ?

    BMX Bandits

    I've tried to forget.
Even as a child I thought it was a desperate attempt to cash in on
    E.T.

  7. do i remember it...

    i actually had a t-shirt

and i have it on dvd... a bit like a et type dvdif you get me

they had some sweet bmx's on there though

the ET was available here in the uk, some bike stores would import 1 if you paid well, thats how i got a laserlite, i bought it myself at age 14, i could have got a ET but thought it would be "childish" at the time to be seen on that, you could get your head kicked in for going round on a duff bike lol

now i would give my back teeth to own one

My first bike was a black Huffy BMX Bandit:

but my favorite vehicle from childhood was the Green Machine:

I charged up and down the street for hours on this thing doing hard 180's. Good times!

I had a bicycle made by the Yamaha motorcycle folks. It was yellow & black w/ front & rear shocks. For a supposed off-road bike, the darned thing weighed a ton making jumping anything (or pedaling uphill) darned near impossible. One of the neatest presents I ever received, wish I still had it now...
