in issue 4 0f the avengers captain america and namor come face to face but don't know each other how is this when they fought side by side in ww2.

Namor might have still had amnesia from his return in the FF? Cap's really old by that point?

Yeah, that's Marvel's official explanation for them not recognizing each other... Cap and Namor both have memory issues at that point (Namor suffering from amnesia and Cap having temporary memory problems from being frozen in the ice for so long).

Actually, at the time of the publication of AVENGERS #4, Namor and Cap hadn't fought together in WWII. There were two "All-Winners Squad" stories done post-War (1946 IIRC), and probably dozens of covers depicting them together (mostly by Alex Schaumburg), but no actual War-era stories teaming them up. All meetings between Cap and Namor during WWII were done retroactively, first in AVENGERS #71 (again, IIRC) in the late-60s, and then in INVADERS IN THE 70s.
