Big Jim 1984 Catalog from Italy

He may have faded from our toy shelves in the 1970s but in Europe, Big Jim was still kind of a big deal.

How big a deal? In this 1984 Mattel Italy catalog, Big Jim has as many pages as Masters of the Universe.

By this time, the Big Jim line is firmly set in the future with flashy villains, sci-fi heroes, giant play sets and transforming vehicles. It is one of the most underrated and attractive action figure lines of our life times.

Check out the 1984 Big Jim Italy Catalog here.

More Big Jim than you can handle!

Man, I would have loved this line when it was released, but I dont think it would have nudged Masters of The Universe out of the top spot for me. I love the idea for a science fiction line for Big Jim, and am happy it was made somewhere in the world. Very cool to see the catalog.

I knew Big Jim continued into the late 70s, but I had no idea he made it this far! As a kid, I only knew Jim from ads in comic back issues I'd picked up at flea markets. I'd bought the hell out of these babies had they been on the shelves here in the 80s! Those are fantastic! There's definitely a GI Joe: RAH/M.A.S.K. vibe to them!

Impressive! Cool Jims that still look cool over 30 years later. Another awesome post!

An absolutely fabulous line. Completely blows the Super Joe (GI Joe in space) line out of the water!

Awesome stuff, those later spy and space BJ lines are underappreciated.

Mind. Blown. I knew the line had some legs outside of the US, but I had no idea the line had evolved in this direction.

Real Men were released here, right? I have no recollection of those either!

Yeah, I don't ever remember them being anywhere but the clearance aisle but I was a collector at the time and recognized the Euro Big Jim heads.

Italy was culturally behind , Disco was still popular around this time. https://youtu.be/-6XZatl9q9E
