The REAL Universal Monster Cafe! (lots of pics)

So, we just made our first trip to Universal Studios, Florida. We did a combo vacation. 2 and a half days at Disney, 2 and a half at Universal. I knew the Uni monsters were under represented at the parks nowadays, but I also knew there was a Universal Monsters Cafe. An OFFICIAL one. So my lovely wife Cindy was determined we were going to eat there. I saw the cool rotating statues of Frankie, Wolf Man and Creech from the outside, but I didn't expect a whole lot on the inside.

Boy, was I surprised to find a mini Acker-mansion inside! GREAT atmosphere, tons of repro-movie posters, props, Basil Gogos paintings...it almost made up for the near total lack of representation in the rest of the park. And, the food was pretty good!

Now that's a Monster Cafe I'd visit. Completely envious.

Well, that's awesome. Nice décor, too--not too overdone.

Is there anything Mexican on the menu?

^Ha, no Mexican. They did have a nice Monster burger with pulled pork and coleslaw on top! After walking in both Disney and Universal for 4 days, I could manage it!

Very cool, that place sure wasn't there when I worked at Universal Studios back in the 90's. I'm hoping to hit Orlando at the end of the year, so if I do I'm definitely checking out this place!

That's interesting. I just assumed it was something left over from the early days of the park. Nice to know they put some effort into the Monsters today. I understand the Horror Makeup show has some nice Monster material in the theater as well. We didn't make it over there, unfortunately.

                          Awesome...thanks for sharing your pictures!

Universal Hollywood had Universal's House Of Horrors, a walk through attraction which housed some great mannequins and props (including Frankenstein's lab). Unfortunately they closed it down about a year and a half ago.

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...
