Me as yoda, halloween 1980. Yes, hmmm.

Found this today and thought I'd share, me in my Ben Cooper Yoda costume circa 1980. Like a lot of kids then, I was pretty smitten with the character at the time, not so much anymore mind you. I decided to go for realism with the costume by adding the greenest sweater I owned, some playtex gloves and my pajar boots, just like Yoda didn't wear. I don't why I was trying to add realism to a dark blue suit with Yoda's face on it, guess that comes with being nine.

If I ever wanted evidence of having a large head, this photo is it, it looks as if Yoda is wearing a hair hat.

Thanks for sharing! I miss the days of Ben Cooper costumes, when you could be pretty much whoever you wanted to be.

        Nice pic!

I still can't understand why Ben Cooper costumes sold well and why someone didn't just say "Hmm. if actually make a costume that looks like the charachter, I won't need to put their picture on it.

        Today's kids have sweet costumes.

I personally love those Ben Cooper costumes, them being so cheesy and cheap is what makes them cool for me

Plus i'm sure they were very affordable for kids back then, not like now that costume go for over $50 if you want a decent one

You gotta love the old Ben Cooper costumes! I never had Yoda, but I remember having a C-3PO and a Bo Duke.

funny. oh and and the time my daughter LOVED wearing that costume around even after halloween. she also had some superhero outfits she wore. Now days she is 4 and other than Wonder Woman (princess diana) she only wears princess costumes.

oh btw on cost -this outfit was $20 lightsber $5.

I had a Ben Cooper Spidey mask as a kid and we didn't get other things because they were expensive by the standard of the day if I remember right.

I do think they are fun for nostalgia now - like brian's picture

I should have bought one of those easter baskets a couple years ago that had the cooper batman replica mask.

Wow even at only nine years old you were taller then Yoda.
                      Love the costume.

I used to love going and looking at all of these costumes around Halloween. All those boxes...lol The only problem is that I would sometimes wearout a costume before Halloween...

Yeah, esp. the later vinyl costumes. They were held together with Elmer's glue I think.

My mom always "enhanced" my bought costumes. Like one year I went as Captain America but we only used the mask. I wore a pair of blue jeans, red rain boots, a white sweatshirt and my Underoos Cap shirt. We made a shield out of cardboard.

Don't worry about the big head Brian. You've got company here on the board. The company I work for makes hard hats, and one of the engineers used me for fit-testing once. He commented that I had an "unusually large head". Gee thanks!
