GI Joe Adventure Team Colorforms Set

I'm moving and forced to pack up my toys, every collector's nightmare! I'm making the best of it and photographing everything before I box it up.

It's a lot of fun to get reaquainted with some of this stuff, especially this super cool colorforms set of the Super Adventure Team. More after the jump!

While a lot of Joe collectors aren't fans of this era, I was five when this came out, Bulletman, Atomic Man and Eagle Eye Joe rocked my world!

    The glorious backdrop.

Ah, Squids and Alligators, they just make things better.

I will admit that GI Joe has looked better.

    That's super cool.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Whoops! I thought this was the first issue Adventure Team Colorforms. I have that one. Sometimes I like to mix it up w/ Action Jackson or POTA Colorform sets.

Thanks for posting this. I've never seen the inside of this set before.

What a neat set. When I was a kid, I absolutely loved Colorforms. It was so much fun to have an environment to create pretty much your own comic book panels. Like most things back then, it was geared towards the creativity of your imagination. Good times.

That is GI Joe at its best for me. Always love the ATeam era the best.

Awesome, awesome, and more awesome! I especially love the unexplained psychedelic rainbow aura coming out of the cave.

The way you have Mike Power set up there kind of reminds me of something from the "Flying Guillotine" movies...

I had pretty much forgotten about Colorforms until someone mentioned them on a post recently. I had the AJ and AT sets, and this really brings back fond memories. Thanks for posting!

                    Some definite art swiping going on in this one, which I love. The big shot of Mike Power on the front is similar to the classic Neal Adams Superman running pose Mego and many others used;

That Bulletman image is a direct swipe from a classic Curt Swan Superman image as well, but I can't seem to find a picture of it online, believe it or not!

The background reminds me of the Wonder Woman background Colorforms did as well. Probably the same artist.

                    Fun set!

                    EDITED TO ADD:

Okay, here's that other Superman pose:
