Batman v Superman has been the most talked about movie of the year...

...now that Star Wars is outta the way.

Not Captain America:Civil War, not Deadpool, not Suicide Squad...nope...

Batman v Superman is turning into an event.

    Just reporting the facts...

I haven't heard anyone talking about it. In fact the general attitude of average folks around my neck of the woods seems to be either "Who cares?" or "Why are they fighting?" and that's only if I bring it up.

Of course I haven't heard anything about Civil War either. I think maybe superhero fatigue is beginning to set in. With over 20 movies under Marvel's belt, DC may have waited too long to launch their cinematic universe.

Ehh, all I see and hear is Deadpool. Hot Topic was lousy with the stuff. The website my wife works on is already sold out on a lot of 'Pool stuff.

People have asked me about it. Most ask, "why are they fighting?"

The buzz is there...but is it POSITIVE buzz...that's the question. I think even many diehard fans, who ARE going to see it no matter what, are apprehensive about what Snyder and company are going to give us.

I think, in general, the fans, and the general public are confident Civil War will be worth their time, and ultimately satisfying, despite the conflict between the heroes.

Here in the Northeast Corridor of the Country...and the Birthplace of DC & Marvel Comics I might add, all we keep seeing and hearing about is Deadpool...and...

To be honest, second to that is about equal time for Suicide Squad and Civil War.

Supes & Bat are not really getting alot of Media Attention in comparison...Maybe 'Social' Media, but not TV and/or Radio airplay...and...

I wouldn't really rely on 'Social Media' as a measurement of 'Hype'...it can easily be 'Manufactured' and could give the impression of 'Don't Believe the Hype'.

Here in the Midwest (Kentucky and Indiana, anyway), DEADPOOL is pretty much the flavor of the week as well and likely will be at least through Valentine's Day. I think once DP has been released into theaters, you can count on the Warner Bros. marketing machine to crank the volume up to "10" on BATMAN V SUPERMAN in hopes of achieving even a semblance of the presence in the public's mind that THE FORCE AWAKENS had. I mean, these ARE two superhero legends, icons, even, meeting up together for the first time on the big screen. If WB cannot generate electricity out of just that fact, they are going to have serious problems on their hands....
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

I think BVS will get the A-typical marketing blitz ten days before it's release. The fact that it's already being talked about in mass, really gives the marketing department no reason to start the push any sooner. I'm confident it will get big numbers opening weekend. Nothing like Star Wars, but a number to be proud of nonetheless.
