Who's excited about the next Alien movie?

So Alien Covenant is supposed to happen ten years after Prometheus and 18 years before the original Alien.
Scott promises to feature all the stages of the Alien, and more "gross out" than the original.
Seems like he's trying to surpass himself.
But it does make me wonder: if the prequels need to surpass the original (like they tried in SW) won't that hurt the impact of the original?
If humans have come across all these types of Aliens already, why would they (Nostromo crew, for example) be surprised if that one appears?

I think the humans were surprised, but Mother(their computer) and the company didn't seem to be that in the dark about them.

I loved Prometheus, despite the influences of Damon Lindeloff on the script. It is just a gorgeous movie, that despite being part of a franchise, felt wholly original. For the first time in ages, I got that old "Heavy Metal Magazine" feeling when watching it. I can't wait to see where he takes it next. He can do whatever he wants with it without damaging the original masterpiece... no, wait... Masterpiece.

As for humans in ALIEN being surprised, it could be implied that The Company knew of the existence and they were all set up (except Ash of course).

I find Prometheus a beautiful film and it is so amazing. The visuals, the story, the characters just keep me captivated. I anxiously await the next chapter. I dont know if I need another Alien specific flick, as I am really looking forward to the continuation of the David and Dr. Shaw storyline.

is Alien vs Predator considered part of the series? If so, then the Aliens were known about for a loooong time.

The 3D in Prometheus was stunning. Scott knows how to make jaw-droppingly beautiful films.

                  Guys, get a room!
                  Invite Ridley...

I'll be the only one here who will say that I totally hated Prometheus. But Hector and I discussed all that during its first run (nice sparring match), so I'll not start dissecting it again...

The biggest fault of Prometheus was tying it to ALIEN. It could've and should've been its own thing and it'd be far more compelling.

I'm starting to get excited about the new Alien movie.

I'm only confused by some things in Prometheus.

Not saying you need to see it again, but I had so many questions when I watched it the first time, but either I have forgotten or everything was answered on future viewings. I honestly cant see what had me so baffled the first time! Maybe I blurred over the weapons of mass destruction installation the first time around.

disappointed that Neill Blomkamp's Alien film is off the table.

IMO the second movie Aliens, is my favorite, also I thought I heard somewhere that the sci-fi classic movie
IT, ( the terror from beyond space) was the idea behind the Alien movie. I didn't enjoy Alien (4) all that much
but the Aliens vs Predator was very enjoyable.

Maybe will see a crossover movie where Star Trek meets the Aliens or Predators.

Really anticipating Scott's next Alien effort.
Loved Prometheus. Great origin for the Alien, and finally seeing the Space Jockeys/Engineers in action was awesome.
