New FTC generic heads in many pretty colors

The difference in size between FTC's original sculpts and the reproduced Mego ones is easy to see, and I like the size of the smaller Space 1999 reproduction heads. It's strange how this problem has been evident in other lines, such as BBP's Battlestar Galactica and Six Million Dollar Man. Whatever the cause, it seems that multiple companies have failed to solve the problem. The EMCE/Diamond Star Trek and Apes seem to have avoided this with even the new sculpts matching in size with the reproductions, maybe Doc has a better understanding of what causes the big head syndrome since his projects seem to have been able to avoid it.

IDK, it may be choice of sculptors, too and not merely production. I honestly don't know. But Mego could screw up, too--ChiPs anyone? Galactica was a heartbreaker for me. TZ & Ventures seem solid.

I agree that these head in particular would have been fine to be a little small as they should have been a good base to add masks, etc.
I'll try to take a side-by-side picture tonight.

If something comes back from the factory defective, can't they refuse it?

I'm sure the cost-to-loss ratio isn't worth having a new tooling made. Even if FTC is unhappy with the scale, they appearently continue to sell despite the size.

FTC has changed their head casts from a squishy, almost silicone rubber to a much firmer one, but I don't know how this affects estimation of shrinkage. Crimson Ghost can advise the forum much better on that issue. FTC signs off on them, regardless.

It doesn't effect (affect?) my end of the job. I sculpt to scale and the factory keys it larger to account for the shrinkage.

I think it also depends on what is considered an acceptable head size by QC. The majority seems happy with the Batman '66 heads even tho they are larger than CHiPs heads. And if '66 are the ruler for an acceptable head size, a head that is even slightly larger than that ends up REALLY big.

Sadly, mr. long face is who you will get with CTVT. Might work good on an over-sized Electro head. If you don't mind oversize.
This is what I mean when I talk about a 'Classic Mego Style'. It's ok when it's a bit small. It's ok if it's a bit big. Just don't sell me a 9-10 inch scale as if it works with an 8 inch scale! Or visa versa.
Head design/scale is job number one.

Does anyone have a pic of the new head on a body? The size is close to the Mego Batman head, but proportions are way off. Hard to tell without seeing the head on a finished figure wether or not it would be useable.
