Thundarr will take the country by storm!

This ad from Viacom was put out in all the toy trades at the time enticing licensees that Thundarr was a good idea. I wish more of them took it seriously. Heck, I still want the unproduced Mego line.

Was Thundarr ever shown in theaters? This ad seems to act like they were planning on it, anyway!

Even as a kid, I understood Thundarr was several notches above the standard Saturday morning fare, especially in the concept, mood and writing. It's not adult at all by today's standards, but compared to Super Friends (which I love, of course), it was DEEP.

Absolutely love that show. It's still one of my all time favourite cartoons.

Love(d) Thundarr. I recall pining for toys thereof, and reading an article about the show in (I think) Famous Monsters.

In watching it as an adult, I still like it--I can suspend my disbelief a bit as when I reread Kamandi--but some of the episodes sort of "jump the shark."
WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.

I so wanted Thundarr toys! All I ever found was a board game.
I remember reading in one of the comic fanzines back then that Whitman Gold Key was releasing a comic book in those woolworth bags. I looked for that for years before finding out it never existed. Since then I've hoped for a series, but nothing.

Loved Thundarr cartoon! I liked Thundarr's personality and Ariel was a babe! Ookla was a Chewbacca wannabe but a good one. Liked Kirby designs of Earth "reborn 2000 years later!" Guess we all survived 1994 when a runaway planet hurtled between the Earth and the moon! Would have freaked over Mego Thundarr figures in 1980!

Wish FTC Hanna Barbara license included Ruby Spears cartoons like Thundarr that HB owns. A FTC 8" Thundarr line would rule!

I have the 2000s Toynami(?) 6" Thundarr figures but cannot find them! Demon Dogs!

I had this HUGE collection of MOTU and added into them Blackstar and other cartoon characters but I was upset that I could never find a Thundarr figure. I do remember making my own using another He-Man with the spare parts. I even went so far as to make an Ookla using an extra Beastman (with a playdough mane).

When I saw the thread here (and on Facebook) I got excited and hoped it was FTC showing off a prototype, but then I realized the thread wasn't part of FTC. Oh, well. Maybe someday. For now, I'll be content with the 3 6" figures that came out years ago.

I would have been quite obsessed with Thundarr toys.

The cartoon left a lasting impression.

Toys are never the same if made years later, if there were no originals.
