My carts would be decidedly different. I wonder if the kid was coached by parents to grab for price tag value.

Oh, and that's how Spidey should look for Civil War.

KBs use to do the shopping spree thing too when they were in business.

That kid looks EXACTLY like I looked in 1981. This is beyond freaky.

This thread has me thinking back to 1981 and what I would've grabbed. I know it wouldn't have been video games; I'm trying to recall what all I collected then.
WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.

That would be easy for me. Star Wars and Strawberry Shortcake.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Yes, Star Wars/ESB (though I could care less now), Remco Monsters, and Mattel Flash Gordon & Clash of the Titans. I was crazy about Clash.

Bah, forget the telescopes and R/C stuff. But I would have grabbed the Atari plus a bunch of games, then piled the rest of the cart full of Star Wars stuff and whatever Megos were still hanging around at that point.

Wasn't that around the time that the final assortment/Pin Pins hit TRU? I started re-collecting with those in '82 I think?

And Glamour Gals! I totally forgot those.

Is this the sweepstakes famously advertised on the top of Marvel Comics for a bit in late 1980?

This is a great slice of toy nirvana, but am I the only one who thinks the kid's a bit old to have won? They should have cut the contest off at 11 or 12 or so.

I think the cutoff was 14. Can't remember. TRU ran the shopping sprees quite a lot during the 80s.
