Dukes 3 3/4: the different heads on Bo and Luke

Anyone know what the story is behind the different head sculpts for Bo and Luke in the original MEGO 3 3/4 line?

So the second sculpts were intended to be Coy and Vance? Do we know this for sure?

        from the MM galleries
In addition to the 8″ figures, Mego also produced 3-3/4″
Coy and Vance figures. No “changes” were made with the
only difference being the chest portions of the shirts for Bo and
Luke were swapped. A 3-3/4″ Coy had blond hair, wore a blue
shirt, with blue pants. A 3-3/4″ Vance had brown hair, wore
a tan shirt with blue pants. The 3-3/4″ Coy and Vance are much
rarer than the 8″ versions and just about non-existent.

Here are the ones I have- if two of these are suppose to be Coy and Vance, then they don't have any different body parts from the standard Bo and Luke:

I must have had both, when I was a little boy. The Bo and Luke must have been from the General Lee set I got when it first came out. Later, I got cared Bo and Luke figures, or so I thought. They must have been Coy and Vance as I did have both sculpts of each figure.

To me, the Tom Wopat looks like him. Maybe Vance looks like Vance. As far as Luke and Coy go, when it comes to the sculpts, I cannot see much difference, facially. And, neighter look like John Snyder to me.

I've always thought Vance in both the 8" and 3.75" looked like an alternate Tom Wopat sculpt. The actor who played Vance had a much longer, narrower face. The Coy sculpts look somewhat like the actor who played him, who had a much rounder face than John Schneider.
