They sure have a problem with the neck gap!

Lonnie, I suspect that all this 'neck gap' issues are because we are looking at prototype heads with no neck plug and these are attach to the bodies with tape. Same thing happen to me when I taped on original sculpted heads to show their scale to the bodies. I am far more concern with sculpt, scale and costume. This figure looks great to me.

I suspect it was intended to be black in the comics (he is Nightwing, after all). But black wouldn't work on the comics page, with black shading added, so publishers in those days went with navy blue. Same thing with Black Panther and Punisher in the 70s. And Wildcat of the JSA.
