    Flash Gordon Pistol by Lonestar

It should come as no surprise that this was submitted by my pal and podcast partner Jason Lenzi. According to him, this is the only toy that bears any connection to the movie.

It's pretty tenuous as the gun itself is a mix of parts from licensed products made for shows like "Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons" and others.

So strange how little merchandise this movie got, (luckily it's been remedied) I know as a kid I kept hoping and waiting....

That's cool. From which other pieces was this taken? I tried looking up a Captain Scarlett gun, but only found this. Is that the same handle and base?

It is somewhat odd that the movie didn't get much merchandising of its own, as I remember it being fairly popular. I've always just assumed that it was simply a case of bad timing. With Mego's figures having come out just a couple years prior (and still sitting on shelves at clearance prices in some locations), and Mattel's (very underrated, IMO) Filmation-based line being new releases, the market probably would have seemed pretty saturated, so they must have thought "Why even bother?".

It is strange there was basically no merchandising for Flash Gordon.

When it came out I was in high school and it was crazy popular.

It was one of the only movies I remember having geek/cool kids crossover appeal

As soon as I saw the title of this thread, I knew who it came from. Is it wrong that every time you guys mention the name of the company, I hear Rick Moranis as Dark Helmet bellowing "LOOOOONESTARRRRR!"?

            Love that packaging. Breathtaking!

I loved the movie back then. I was about 5 when it came out. I don't remember this pistol. I would have loved it.
