The Adventures of GI Joe (in France)

I kind dig that GI Joe's adventures continued in Europe long after the US handed him his walking papers.

    More Foreign Joe

Wish we'd had that Action Girl line here!

I'm really digging that one woman's outfit with the red star. Not really very ready-for-adventure, though.

What a fantastic ad. Stuff like this is what makes Plaid Stallions so great.

It's always struck me as interesting that Europe seemed much less fad-driven than North America in many ways with their toy markets. They were still doing larger-scale figures and hanging on to spy, adventure, western and straight military themes well into the '80s, many years after such things were considered passe across the pond.

I so wish this scale could have just kept going. It never ceases to fascinate every time I see them.

Missing here is the GI Joe French military line from the late 60's. The talking ones had phrases like "Fall Back!" "We surrender!" and "More wine!" Needless to say, it was a short lived line.
