Anybody hear about the drug that went from $15.00 to $750.00 overnight ?

Is the CEO of this company even worse than Lex Luthor or a Batman villain ?

The price of the drug, called Daraprim, a standard of care for treating a life-threatening parasitic infection, went to $750 a tablet from $13.50.

They said on TV nothing can really be done .... unless another company steps up and makes it --- which none will do because they'd lose money.

Honestly I'm surprised to see this guy is still alive after what he pulled, and what he has pulled in the past with his other companies. Oh well come to Canada to get your generic pills our government just pulls the patent and poof instant supply

What a piece of human garbage. To prey on the sick and the suffering is just pure evil. I hope somebody gives him a little pill made of lead right between the eyes.

this is the affordable part of the Affordable Care Act that was missed. The prices in healthcare need to be regulated, along with insurance companies

I heard this...person? interviewed on the drive home today. He's trying to spin what he's doing, but it's blatantly opportunistic and self-serving IMO. I'd actually say "evil." A lot of BS about reinvesting for drug research. Read also the article Mikey linked above--it'll make your guts twist in anger.

I work in healthcare. IMO, it's businessman like Shkrelli (and insurers, as T-bolt notes) that are ballooning care costs. And by the way, some of those businessmen are physicians.

^^^ I think the word "affordable" is lost on the people in insurance, big medical companies and most of the govt. "The rich stay healthy and the sick stay poor"

Yeah pill prices should be regulated to prevent parasites like this.

Yeah, I understand the investments made in research and letting drug cos make enough profit to justify that expense, but jacking up prices on old drugs bothers me. Maybe if you can't beat ém join ém: a lot of the drug cos are publicly traded. GSK has a nice 6% dividend yield...
