Burning Bright seems it was written specifically for Shat to show off his hamminess.

I can't picture any other actor who would have done that part justice except for maybe Dwight Schultz

Without bionic hips,shoulders , spine, and enhanced lungs ,heart etc. he could not run 60 mph, lift engine blocks or jump really high. This made all the episodes
seem pretty silly to me

I think they made reference later to reinforcements to his spine, etc. to explain the Superman behavior. And I think early eps and even in the book, they made it clear that with the limbs running om their own power, Steve's heart and lungs actually had it easier, since they only service his one arm, torso, and head.
