I like that black 'cyclops' robot from Space Academy that looks like a modified Robby the Robot.

I'm delighted to see there's still lots of love for C-3PO. He's probably my favorite non-human SW character. I'm used to reading a lot of hate for ol' Goldenrod on most message boards. I think over the years, there's been a tendency to praise only the badass elements of SW and lump Threepio in with the Ewoks and Jar Jar. Even George Lucas has basically identified Threepio as the Jar Jar of the OT.
For me, there's something very lyrical about him that transcends the prissy exterior. He is very Asimov in his manner and design, and his relationship with Luke. And the shots of him in the desert... well, those are what Star Wars is all about.Comment

There's a movie I vaguely remember about an android who was on the run, b/c I think he accidentaly killed someone. He called his creator father. I think in the end the creator finds him and has to de-activate him, and wants to hug him goodbye. The android said "Don't Father, you'll feel the metal."
Anyone remember that?"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."Comment
