Trek Documentary Chaos on the Bridge

Former Star Trek star William Shatner has made a slew of Trek documentaries in recent years, so when I saw he had a new one about the first few years of Star Trek: The Next Generation, I wasn’t sure if it was worth watching. But it totally was.

That should be a fascinating discussion. I love the original series and thought the next generation was a noble and respectable advancement of that original idea. Everything after that (for me) was pure formula and PC overkill. When you note the original series barely ran three years, then went on hiatus (not counting the cartoon) until 1987, that was a long time to build demand off syndication and movies for the concept to find new stories on television again. But then the reverse came true. No one could catch their breath for the next 18 years. There was a different Trek show on in one form or another from 1987 to 2005. But I'm sure that first step back onto the Enterprise bridge was a story to behold.
