this guy was amazing in person... so sweet.. He took his time with me a few years back, there was a huge line and the money kept saying to hurry up and he told guy to chill out..and kept asking me personal questions..I loved it..Told me he had a daughter my age ...This one hurts me for sure ..and "they live" is an all time fave of my mine"Time to nut up or shut up" -Tallahassee

wow...I go back watching Roddy to his AWA days, his first wrestling gig. He was always the third piece to the puzzle of Hogan and Flair. Arguably the greatest pure heel the business ever had. Without Roddy, WWF never happens. Only he could draw the heat necessary for MTV and Wrestlemania because he was always, always credible as the bad guy.
Very sad, but at least he went in his sleep, at home, peacefully. Sort of ironic considering the persona. A fulfilled life.Comment

61 is far too young. Piper was one of thee all time best on the mic. I loved him.Check out my website: Megozine Covers - HomeComment

About his death at 61, well...the pattern is there...so no, not shocked, but yes, saddened, Roddy was quite an entertainer...what's more shocking to me...is that he never won the WWF title...the highest he achieved was the Intercontinental championship...quite surprising given his excellent mic skill and overall persona.sigpicComment

I watched Saturday morning/afternoon wrestling, just for Pipers Pit, some classic interviews, he was the bad guy
but I couldn't help thinking he was great, I had his HotRod T-shirt, his LJN figure with removable kilt, saw him
wrestle at the Boston Garden against Bruno Samartino and Jimmy (super fly) Snuka both in a steel cage.
I can't believe he's gone, rest in peace RRP, it's guys like you that kept wrestling on the map, Vince McMahon
should have licked your boots.Comment
