So MomoAquaman is an Easter Isle descendent and this AQ is a surfer from Baja.

I'm really surprised they haven't swiped a bunch of Silver Surfer aspects and brined Aquaman in them. Maybe they did and I missed it. He could be all zen, riding a huge wave on his trident. Or a dolphin.

Then again, I think he has a dolphin in his pants. That's a helluva an angle...

I read the issue at Hastings and for the first time in a LONG time I did not pick it up. I have one of the largest collections of Aquaman and I am having a hard time with this. Maby when the TPB comes out with the first story arc is complete that it will make since.

I for one HATE flashback stories just tell the story from the start and then build it up.

From that angle and the way it's rendered, it looks like there's a fish who has taken up residence where his privates should be. Perhaps that truly is a "codpiece"? LOL!

Aquaman's new uniform

I wouldn't go that far, Momoa is a non-harpooned re-hash of the '90s "savage" Aquaman--yuck.

I don't endorse this new look, but it's not an abomination--and in fact if the armored top was gold-orange, it could be a decent alternate uniform.

Why does everthing DC comics is now doing looks like it's from the 1990's and Image comics? Most of the comics I bought back than are'nt even worth a dollar now
and that is if you can find somoene to buy them for that. They can't seem to come out with any new charector's it's like they have no imagination.

Also note that the current DC creative regime is under the editorial reign of Bob Harras, who brought Jim Lee onto X-Men back in the day. Harras, the former 90's era Marvel EIC has been doing a callback to 90's Marvel and Image creative teams at DC. Brett Booth, Scott Lobdell, David Finch, Fabian Nicienza, Greg Capullo, etc.

I've come to the conclusion that the DC brain trust is the modern day equivalent of Bob Haney's "teen speak" in the original Teen Titans. Middle-aged men desperately trying to be "hip" and appeal to a younger crowd by giving them what they think they want, rather than just craft good stories. Except Haney was always entertaining.
