    The Classic House Work Conspiracy

Ever notice just about all classic TV shows had the women stay home and do the "house work" ?

Usually an overused plot was the husband stays home a day to do it and find out it's tougher than his job.

Was this a conspiracy to keep the women home and happy ?

I don't know about you guys but most things they called house work was/is not done everyday unless you're Felix Unger

Many shows made these tasks look like everyday duties.....

    Laundry/ironing
    Vacuuming
    Scrubbing the walls
    Washing the windows
    Washing/Scrubbing the floors
    Cooking an over extravagant meal

you are treading dangerous ground Mike

that was the era. a family could get by with just the man working and the woman staying home and keeping house, taking care of the kids. nowadays most married couples both work full time so both share the house hold duties

I'm sure Carol Brady would be working full time today, housekeeper or not.

Who wouldn't love to have someone like June making sure everything was all squared away by the time you got home from work. Different times though.

BTW, if you have a lot of children, or just other people in your household, then you might be doing laundry/ironing and vacuuming daily. I know when I lived w/ my dad, (and there were 5 of us kids in the house), those were daily chores.

I agree. I call myself Laundry Man! And it seems my job is never ending.
