Here is what he sent me. Quite polite and not rude at all especially since a whole bunch of people on the Forum apparently sent him a note. Poor, Guy.
"Hi. Would you believe I've had 15 collectors tell me the same thing today so far. Thanks for letting me know - I never wanted to rip anyone else off - I just thought I was selling legit stuff because I never replaced them. Never thought about the original seller. Maybe he didn't know either. Oh well.
All the best, J"
"Steel-like jaws clacked away, each bite slashing flesh from my body - I used my knife and my hands, and when they were gone, my bloody stumps - and yet the turtles came."
That pretty much makes Dan's point on repros. Buyer and Seller beware and do your homework. Dave Mc's Accessory check is the first and best place to start. I give it my total endorsement. But the best way to know an original Mego part is to own one. By that you can pretty much spot 99.9% of the repros out there just by looking. Even the opaque late issue t2 batman belt looks way different than Doc Mego's. You really have to comb through the the bull to find the golden egg. But I've always found the hunt most exciting. It does't phase me much. Only when I think about having to sell for less than I paid.
