Looking for vacation advice - Toledo, Detroit, Windsor, Ann Arbor & Lansing

Hi. At some point this summer, the wife and I want to load the kids into the car and do Toledo, Detroit, Windsor, Ann Arbor & Lansing. Can anyone recommend toy, food or nostalgic spots to hit in those areas? I was brainstorming a list this morning, and it's shaping up as:

    - toy/collectible stores/shows
    - unique bakeries & donut shops
    - nostalgic places (e.g. HoJo's in Lake Placid, NY)
    - local food destinations (e.g. Primanti Bros in Pitt, PA)
    - classic/vintage department stores - especially the old downtown kind
    - anything else that I'd regret missing

    Thanks!

Greenfield Village in Dearborn, MI is interesting. Lots of old cars and then the creepy fact that Henry Ford bought out and then put so many famous buildings into a small "town." We haven't been there for over a decade (Our daughter was only 6 months at the time and we were there when the big east coast power blackout happened, whixh was our only trip to Toledo to get to a working gas station). Anyway, back then they had various Mold-A-Rama machines throughout the museum. We have an Oscar Meyer Wienermobile.

We have also as a family gone camping near Lake Placid, NY for the last two years. Wish we had the time to go back again this year.

Cool, thanks. Their website looks interesting. Love the pic at Hojo's, too.

In Ann Arbor you have to eat at Zingerman's!

Downtown Ann Arbor is nice to walk through. Nice local shops with tons of character. Visit the Robot Store (which is also a front for a charity tutoring program), and there are cool record stores.
