FINALLY! Universal Adds "The Creature From the Black Lagoon" to Their List!

I've been hoping and praying that Universal would announced a re-make(or a new story) of "The Creature from the Black Lagoon"...and here it is! That fact that their eyeing Scarlett Johansson as the female lead doesn't hurt either! My main concern is...they'd better not change the design of the Creature ONE BIT! To me...he's one of the most PERFECT Monsters ever designed...period!

Well, this time I hope there's real traction on this story and it really happens. They've been talking about a Creature remake for almost 20 years. Scarlet would be an amazing star to front this film. I would be all in for that. I too would want the creature to pretty much look the same, but I would expect some modern updates to his ability to kill. Bank that.

It's the same CFTBL project that's been in development for about a decade. Adding Scarlett really means nothing unless they made the Adams character an Indiana Jones knock-off. But then they're remaking Ananconda...

One just has to look at Mike Hill's Monsterpalloza life-size Aurora Wolfman kit to realize these classic designs are completely viable now, they just need to be reinterpreted with modern materials. The designs are perfect.

This will be interesting, CFTBL kind of reminded me of the original King Kong, beauty and the beast
he didn't hurt her, he just liked her, his Amazon lagoon domain was invaded by people, maybe this new version
will have the Creature battle a large snake or crocodile to protect his love interest, in the original version
they never had the Creature fight another Amazon jungle predator.

I can't help it, I just don't think Johansson is that special.
Maybe they can do role-reversal, and let Mark Wahlberg be pursued by Johansson....

Anyway, it would be interesting to see the Creature back. Let's hope it won't be CG.
