"I leave the 20th century with no regrets."

"Seen from out here, everything seems different. Time bends. Space is... boundless. It squashes a man's ego."

I know NECA makes a bearded, post-hibernation Col. Taylor from Planet of the Apes now, but I wanted a pre-hibernation Taylor. He's tucked the rest of his crew into deep-sleep and takes a quiet moment to make a final log entry, enjoy a cigar, and meditate on the human condition before he... well you know how the rest of the story goes. It's pretty much downhill after that.

Seriously though. One of the greatest speeches and openings in moviedom and gives you everything you need to know in just a few minutes.

"This much is probably true. The men who sent us on this journey are long since dead and gone."

"You who are reading me now are a different breed. I hope a better one."

It's a superstore jumpsuit which I bleached to white, tailored a bit, sewed a diagonal chest seam to suggest a jacket zipper there, and added a custom belt (to make it look like a 2-piece flightsuit) and insignia and zippers. It's also superstore's S-body. I like how their trigger hand also makes a perfect cigar-holding hand. The head is from Juanimal. I dyed it pink and orange a bit to make it a more of a "has a pulse" flesh tone (he started out a bit pale is what I'm saying), and then painted the hair and eyes. The boots are original Mego Action Jackson ski patrol with the laces shaved down a bit - and I'll probably find something better to use eventually.

I rolled the 1/9th scale cigar myself

Super fun, cool sewing skillz rework of that jumpsuit… it shows you had a good time conjuring Taylor.
