HOW DARE YOU!!!

How dare you toy with my emotions with the subject line, "We're Not Clowning Around"! I thought Mego was going to re-introduce their beloved, world-famous, better-selling-than-Star-Wars Clown Around line. That soon, I could go to Walmart and Target to pick up a new Clownula or Samurai Clown. I could get excited over brand-new figures from the Monster line, a Creature from the Clown Lagoon, or from the Funky line, Shreddy, the Skateboarding Clown. I'd post angry rants on Facebook about how Mego still refuses to start up my suggested Martial Arts line, with Clowny Chiba, Kwai Chang Clown and Count Clownte, the Deadliest Clown Alive. (you know you'd be in for that last one!)

As you've done in the past and I'm sure you will again, Steve, you crushed my soul. CRUSHED IT!!

Now that I'm over my emotional devastation, some non-clown related questions.

I'm sure this has been addressed, but does FTC still have the rights t create DC figures now that Mego is creating them again?

Either way, has the relaunch of Mego hurt FTC sales. I can't imagine it could be avoided. I've only bought a few FTC lines, but I'd hate to see a company that helped bring satisfy our Mego-like wishes early on go away. Can they survive and even thrive as the Tomland or Lincoln International of this generation? (even though they came before re-launched Mego) Will Brian's grandchildren be sated with their nuMego collection and begin to seek out pricey Mego-knock-off FTC figures (pre-knocks, Pre-nuMego-Like, ??)?

FTC license is "boutique" and Mego license is mass market. I think as Mego pumps out more DC superheroes, even at a $20 price point, competition for collector dollars will be a challenge for FTC. That being said, they are pretty savvy business people and I'll be surprised of they aren't able to roll with the changes.
