In my opinion, this will be a tough film to make. The subtext drove the original to be a much better piece than what it looked liked on the surface. It was uniquely Ridley Scott. But its such a nostalgic dive, I'll have to go and see it, if for no reason other than to see Ford reprise his role as Deckard. Here's the release...

I'm on board, hopefully Deckard is a replicant...... -
If Ford is a replicant... Do they age?
I do agree that what makes BR great is the artistry of Ridley Scott. Every frame of the film is like a painting, carefully composed. The narrative of the film was never really strong. Thought provoking, sure, but it's really a feast for the eyes and imagination.
Don't know if that lightning can be recaptured.Comment

Scott always says Deckard is a replicant. I think this is a bad idea. The sequel I mean.
Now he will hammer home the message "Deckard is a replicant". It was better left unsaid.
The best art always leaves room for the viewer's own imagination/interpretation.
The beauty of the original practical effects and models cannot be matched with CGI.Comment

Hmm. Do I really want to see this?
Sure, the world of BR had much more to show us, but I don't know if Deckard's further story is all that interesting.
See him hunt so more replicants?
With a de-activated Rachel sitting in his closet?
Roy Batty saying "I'm back!"
And indeed, the idea of "is he himself a replicant?" isn't new, even Dick thought about it in his original book..

I'm just hoping nothing will fall on Ford during shooting...
He'll see stars, shimmering on the shoulder of Orion.....

If I was writing it, I'd make it more commentary on what constitutes "life" and if anything was "driven home" regarding Deckard's identity "replicant vs. human", it'd be that he could be either one"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris MannixComment

A friend of mine bought the cheaper version.
Want some advice? Don't.
It has several defects, the worst part of it is that it's poured in a kind of vinyl, so some of the metal parts aren't perfectly straight. I had it in my hand, and it's hugely disappointing.
Maybe this expensive one is a bit better..

I don't agree with Ridley that Deckard is Replicant...he wasn't in the book. And I HATE the Director's cut. I love the original movie version...it's the ONLY version for me. I'm glad the producer's had the smart's to take control away from Scott.sigpicComment

The idea that Deckard COULD be a replicant improves the movie in a HUGELY significant way IMHO. On that note, I also think that keeping that factor AMBIGUOUS aids the franchise as well.
If I was writing this sequel, I'd have a twist at the end that shows that some replicants live longer for a certain reason that's pertinent to the climax of the plot (where the resolution for the protagonist occurs), and that factor would retroactively imply that Deckard could be a replicant---but, I'd still leave it unanswered (yet hinted at) during the duration of the movie."No. No no no no no no.
