    SMDM Prototype Suit

This is my most recent SMDM action figure purchase.

It is an extremely rare Proto type leisure suit that was created by Kenner in 1976. As far as I am aware this is the only known original in a private collection.

This would be considered a first stage cut and sew as evidenced by some of the hand finishing and no tags from an external maker. I was able to confirm this as an original based on the photographs with a friend who is a former designer on this toyline.

I found this particular item on eBay of all places and and thrilled to finally add one to my collection. The photographs are from the auction and once I have the figure in hand I'll be sure to post better pictures. I've only seen this outfit in a photograph of a salesman sample brochure dated from 1976.

I don't remember that episode! It's cool yet awful at the same time. Great score!

Wow, congrats! To me it looks like they used the same pattern as the track suit but used whatever material was kicking around. You see that a lot on prototypes.

The pattern on the top looks like something my aunt wore to her baby shower.

No wonder he had trouble getting a girlfriend in that outfit...
"But, it has all these handy pockets on the front, what's not to love?"

                Congrats on expanding the collection!

It's amazing how many variations of the Kenner Six Mill actually exist out there. This certainly ranks up there as one of the most rare I have seen. Thanks for sharing.

Updated photos. You can see this a machine made outfit with finished button hole for the arm lever. Finished by hand in some areas, no tags.
