John Lennon Let It Be Rooftop Head

Here's the head that I want to root with hair. It's a Raan head from 1999 line. Lennon Granny Glasses are courtesy of a 8 inch Harry Potter figure that had real clothes. BTW, the real clothes that Harry had would make a great Parker outfit. Glasses go into the head....and it was a royal pain to get them in. You can see by the pic that he has been prepped for root surgery. Got the hair from the Dollar Tree store...now just have to find the time/patience to do the root the right way. Anyway, here's a pic:

I can totally see it! But wouldn't it have made more sense to repaint the head before you stuck the glasses on?

He's a little on the yellowish side...but close enough to the color I want. Perfect world would have been more of a true fleshtone. I think that his hair will be long enough that it may just deflect the fact that it is a little yellowish in color. I think the hardest part is going to be able to find the guitar. I think John's later guitar is not a Gretsch. I could be wrong.

Process has been a little slow. I have the utmost RESPECT for anyone that can root or re-root hair. Man, what a beyotch. I only have 4 plugs done so far and my fingers are killing me. My dad was a tailor and now I know what he used a thimble when he would use the old needle and thread...one is so you don't poke your finger and bleed all over the place and two is to help with leverage getting the needle through rougher material. Going through vinyl heads is ROUGH! Hopefully I'll find some time to get back on this project. Only about 30 - 40 plugs to go

I use a pair of craft needlenose pliers to push the needle in and pull it out the other side. Saves a lot of stabbing.

That's where I learned to do it...problem is that the tutorials are for "Dolls" heads and not for Mego styled heads. The neck plugs are longer than the female doll heads and a lot slimmer than the female doll heads. Might have a problem as I work to the top of the head because the darning needle might not be long enough to reach the opening at the bottom of the neck plug. It's not as easy to do plugs on a Mego male head than it is on a female doll head that is meant for a 12 inch figure with no neck plug...or at least a neck plug that is wider and shorter. It will get done it's just a matter of having the time and the patience.

I use a tapestry needle that I cut the eye open like a knitting needle so I can load it with hair easily. It reaches thru a 9 inch head with no problem and use the craft needlenose to pull them thru.

Man, what a beyotch this has been so far. I'm about 1/3rd of the way done with the root of my Lennon head. Right now he looks like he's joining a Punk Band in '76/'77:

I hope to get to the half way point by this weekend. The guitar I found was a shade to big...but I've found another one (Not the one pictured) and I need to repaint which is going to be another pain in the you know what. Slow and steady wins the race
