    Heavy Metal figures?

I may not be the only one here that has been waiting for 3.75 retro figures of the animated movie, Heavy Metal. I guess Retroband toys created some last year for CC:

Additionally, Retroband has designed a series of action figures based on the 1981 film, including the characters Taarna, Harry Canyon, and B-17 Gunner that will be shown as part of an art installation. The figures will be on display at Heavy Metal’s booth; it’s unclear whether they will eventually be reproduced and sold.

Looks like Retroband some interesting releases(?):

Hoping these Heavy Metal figures get made or at least through FUNKO. Been working on making a Taarna custom but rather one off the rack. No pun intended.

I probably wouldn't buy any but I think they'd sell.

I'd be on these like white on rice. Maybe too obscure for ReAction to tackle it. I like Retroband's stuff, but their edition sizes are maddeningly low, so good luck getting one.

Yep. I'd buy both of those.

I'd snag a couple of Taarna's, no question.

shocked they are not doing Taarna's bad guy... but I guess they have to save something for wave 2?

Other than Den, the WW2 bomber sequence was one of my favourites too. That would be some cool toys.

I would sue the heck out of retroband if it were my property being exploited without proper licensing...

It falls under "Art", and they're basically one-offs/prototypes that likely aren't for sale, or for sale like an artist would sell a painting/statue. Or like if a customizer here made a figure and packaging and sold it to another member or on eBay. As long as they're not mass-produced to the general public, it's more or less OK.

The fact that they're being shown at Heavy Metal's booth likely means licensing issues aren't an issue at all. These may very well have been commissioned by Heavy Metal for the show. If there's interest from attendees in buying the figures, we may yet see these figures on the shelves yet!

^ What Tim said. Got an email from Retroband and they have been put on hold indefinitely by HM. Does Robert Rodriguez own the license to the movie?

I'd buy them. Not a fan of the smaller format (Are they 3 3/4) I think they would have problems with characters like Den and Captain Stern. Are they owned by Corben and Wrightson? Surprised it hasn't been attempted in Mego scale yet. Used to have the small poster. I think it was 18 x 24. Great movie.
